My Common - Unity

The poems in this brief selection are the result of a class activity completed in the Creative Writing in Spanish course (SPAN 366). Reflecting upon the word “community itself, and its essential meaning, we decided to call the activity “my common-unity”. Thus, the writing exercise was based on the ideas of “origin” (in all its possible senses “having in common”, and “being in unity.” As you will see, the results were diverse, and beautifully written. Students expressed, through poetry, the way they see their community of origin, what they have in common with the members of that community, and what unity means for them.
