When I see you among the flowers

“When I see you among the flowers”
the Asian ones, beautiful Ghada,
I sing to you my love
from the first light of dawn.
“Listen to my voice, Listen to my voice,”
Listen to my voice, beautiful Hada.
When I see you among the lotuses
your face, your eyes,
your grace are the spring
and the gardens of the soul.
When you are among carnations
which, if you were Sevillian,
you would hear my flamenco singing
with my sorrowful guitar.
When I see you among roses,
your lips are your fragrance
with their petals opened
to my heaven of hope.
When I see you among poppies
which sing, “so sweet,”
I dedicate hymns,
zajal poems, verses and kharjas to you.
When I see you among gardenias
with Colombian orchids,
you will see who is the bard
who recites to you these nostalgias.
When I see you in spring
crowned in laurels,
I name you queen
of all the most fragrant flowers.
“Listen to my voice, listen to my voice”
“Listen to my voice, Colombian one.”

Cuando te veo entre flores

“Cuando te veo entre flores”
orientales, bella Ghada,
yo te canto mis amores
desde el crepúsculo al alba.
“Oye mi voz, oye mi voz”,
Oye mi voz, bella Hada.
Cuando te veo entre lotos
la primavera es tu cara,
son tus ojos, tu donaire,
y los jardines del alma.
Cuando te estás entre claveles
cual si fueses sevillana,
ya oirás mi cante jondo
con mi dolida guitarra.
Cuanto te veo entre rosas,
son tus labios tu fragancia
con sus pétalos abiertos
a mi cielo de esperanza.
Cuando te veo entre amapolas
“dulcísimas”, cual se canta,
yo te dedico cantigas,
zejeles, coplas y jarchas.
Cuando te veo entre gardenias
con orquídeas colombianas,
ya verás quien es el bardo
que te recita nostalgias.
Cuando te veo en primavera
de laureles coronada,
te nombro reina de todas
las flores más perfumadas.
”Oye mi voz, oye mi voz”
“Oye mi voz colombiana”
