This artwork, created for the students’ final project in Create Lab (CISS 275), was a collaboration piece made to capture the essence of individuality within each group member. Our goal was to allow the unlimited freedom of expression to showcase our individual artistic strengths. Keeping in mind the theme of the class, “Looking back, moving forward,” we each took turns adding a unique element to the piece of cardboard to join in on the conversation started by our classmates, while sprinkling vibrancy in our own unique way. In the end, we were able to show how this oxymoronic idea of collaborative individualism can result in something beautiful. We hope that with this piece we can encourage viewers to be creative and engage with simple things in their lives to transform it into art.
